The display exercise, which began on April 25, 2025 is set to conclude today May 15, 2025, Uganda electoral commission has confirmed.
The National Voters Register Display exercise marks a critical step in promoting transparency, and accuracy during elections.
As the country prepares for the 2025/2026 General Election, the Electoral Commission emphasizes the importance of this exercise in determining voter eligibility for polling day.
The 20-day exercise has seen Ugandans verifying their photos, correct spelling of thier names and personal details, removing names of deceased persons from the register among others.
The Electoral Commission is encouraging voters to visit their designated display centers in person to update thier details before the exercise concludes today.
“During this period, citizens are encouraged to: Verify the correct spelling of their names, Confirm they are registered in the correct parish and Report the names of deceased persons or individuals under the age of 18,” says Justice Simon Byabakama, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
Earlier this week, Julius Mucunguzi, the Electoral Commission spokesperson, stated that there will be no extension of the verification period.
