KAMPALA, Uganda– Elijah Kitaka has issued a wake-up call to artist and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president, Eddy Kenzo, urging him to take urgent action to save the fading Ugandan music industry.
While appearing on NBS After 5, Kitaka didn’t mince words as he openly criticized the current state of the music sector and pointed fingers at Kenzo for not doing enough despite his influential positions.
“I love Kenzo a lot, he’s one of the big artists we have here in Kampala. I respect you Kenzo, but the truth is we need to work, we are dying. Our industry is dying.” He said.
He further said that Kenzo, who also holds the title of Presidential Adviser on Creative Arts, bears a great deal of responsibility for the industry’s stagnation and must do more than wear titles.
“If I was the Presidential Adviser, I would first sack the entire cabinet of the Federation. Not out of disrespect. That position doesn’t have to have a musician as a leader, we need to appoint professionals to bring ideas,” he explained.
