KAMPALA, Uganda :  Dozens of parents and students have appreciated the support extended to them by the country leadership of the African Hospitality Initiative (AHI Uganda), which offers education bursaries to thousands of bright but financially challenged students, as well as vocational skills training opportunities to vulnerable citizens.

Oloya Florence, the Secretary for Women Affairs for LC I Zone 4 in Mutungo Bina Parish, Nakawa Division, said the NRM Women’s League Chairperson for the division, Kusiima Irene, requested her to provide space to host a vocational skills training workshop sponsored by AHI Uganda, a request she accepted.

The training exposed participants to various subjects ranging from domestic violence prevention to income-generating courses and mindset change, among others.

The initiative later resulted in the introduction of the school bursary scheme, which they embraced, attracting dozens of children from the division as beneficiaries.

She made the remarks to this website on May 17, 2026, on the sidelines of the AHI Uganda project beneficiaries’ dedication prayer mass.

The prayers brought together over 400 parents and students and were held at God’s Kind of Life Ministries Glorious Church in Kawoto, Kiwanga-Namanve, Mukono District. The event was presided over by Dr. Apostle Isaac Luganda.

Oloya, who also serves as an area Village Health Team (VHT) volunteer, said the project had positively impacted many vulnerable children who previously had no hope of attending school but are now enrolled in schools across the country.

Nansubuga Beatrice from Mutungo Bina Zone 5 said she managed to secure a bursary for her daughter, Nanziri Christine, a Senior One student at St. Maria Mulumba Secondary School Kungu-Kyanja in Kawempe Division, after losing her job.

Ntalo Darren Warren, a beneficiary of the scheme, said he is currently a Senior Three student at Bristol High School Matugga and hopes to become a surgeon in the future.

His three younger brothers and sisters are studying at Good Foundation Primary School Jjanda-Namugongo and Waterford Primary School respectively.

Dr. Isaac Luganda, the Country Director of AHI Uganda, said the organization has provided free vocational skills training opportunities and formal education bursaries to more than 144,200 beneficiaries since the project’s inception 17 years ago, and has also hosted 10 graduation ceremonies.
