JUST IN: Media personality and sports administrator Cedric Babu has died after battling a heart complication.
Babu, son of veteran politician Capt. Francis Babu recently collapsed while attending a tennis tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, and was airlifted to Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The news of his passing comes a day after a public fundraising campaign launched by friends and family to raise Uganda shillings 1.4 billion for a heart transplant in United Kingdom.
Cedric was a renowned figure in Ugandan sports, having represented the country as a Davis Cup player and serving as President of the Uganda Tennis Association.
In 2021, Cedric ran for the Kampala Central parliamentary seat under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
