KAMPALA, Uganda: Electoral Commission- EC has cleared President Yoweri Museveni and two other aspiring presidential candidates to be nominated today.
Museveni will be nominated at 10am, while the president of Conservative Party Elton Joseph Mabirizi will be nominated at 12:00pm and lastly Robert Kasibante of National Peasants Party at 2:00pm
According to the guidelines the aspirant must be a citizen of Uganda by birth ,an adult of 18 years and must be registered on the national voters register and shown proof of payment of nominations fees sh20m.
The EC boss Justice Simon Byabakama says each duly nominated presidential candidate will be given a pickup and police escorts and will be allowed to address the public before leaving the venue.
Byabakama says that each aspiring candidate should be escorted by not more than 20 persons for nomination exercise.
Meanwhile, Julius Mucunguzi the EC Spokesman says Nandala Mafabi of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bob Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP) will be nominated on Wednesday as other aspiring presidential candidates are pending.
