The Uganda Police have opened a full-scale investigation following the brutal killing of an elderly couple in what is suspected to be a robbery turned double murder in Entebbe Municipality.
According to a statement issued on July 8, 2025, by ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of Kampala Metropolitan Police, the victims, identified as 69-year-old Mutaaga David and his wife, Mutaaga Deborah Florence, 62, were found dead in their residence in Lugonjo Nakiwogo Cell on the night of July 6.
The horrific discovery was made after a household worker alerted authorities to a suspected attack. When officers arrived at the scene, they found both victims with fatal stab wounds. Police confirmed that a crime scene investigation was immediately launched, and several exhibits were recovered for forensic examination.
The bodies were transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for postmortem analysis, which will assist in uncovering further details behind the killings.
While the motive has not been officially confirmed, investigators suspect that the double homicide may have been linked to an aggravated robbery. Authorities have not ruled out other possible motives, and efforts to track down the perpetrators are ongoing.
“We condemn this act in the strongest terms and wish to reassure the public that we are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice,” ASP Owoyesigyire stated.
Police have urged the public to remain calm but vigilant and to report any suspicious individuals or activities that may assist in the investigation. Forensic results and further updates on the suspect(s) will be shared as the inquiry progresses.
This shocking crime has left the Lugonjo Nakiwogo community reeling, with residents calling for increased security in the area.
