ENTEBBE, UGANDA – Entebbe International Airport saw a steady rise in international passenger traffic in March 2025, recording 178,383 travelers, according to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).

The figure represents a daily average of 5,754 passengers, comprising 83,661 arrivals and 94,722 departures.

The March traffic shows an increase of 6,393 passengers compared to the same month in 2024, which saw 171,990 international passengers.

While March showed growth, February 2025 experienced a dip to 161,095 passengers, down from 175,630 in February 2024, highlighting fluctuations in travel trends over recent months.

According to UCAA spokesperson Vianney Luggya, the first quarter of 2025 has been marked by dynamic passenger movements, including a standout performance in January, which saw 216,740 passengers, the second-highest monthly total in the airport’s history.

The growth in March is attributed to several factors, including Uganda’s increasing role as a host of international conferences, a push in tourism promotion, and expanded air connectivity.

Notably, Flynas launched direct flights between Riyadh and Entebbe in January 2025, and Uganda Airlines has maintained new international routes, boosting regional and global access.

In addition to passenger traffic, Entebbe International Airport handled a total of 5,852 metric tonnes of cargo in March, 1,965 tonnes in imports and 3,887 tonnes in exports.

The higher volume of exports continues to bolster Uganda’s foreign exchange earnings and support broader economic growth.
