KAWEMPE, Kampala: Madina Nsereko Ntale, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe South, has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the people of the constituency for their overwhelming support in the recent parliamentary elections.
In a statement, she emphasized her commitment to advocating for high-impact economic empowerment programs aimed at combating household poverty in the region.
Madina, who ran as the NRM party flagbearer, triumphed over NUP candidate Fred Nyanzi in a fiercely contested race. Although some have alleged that her victory was facilitated by state machinery, an accusation she firmly rejects, Madina maintains that her win was fair and legitimate.
In an exclusive interview with this website on January 21, 2026, during a mini-campaign agents’ party at her residence in Kyebando Central Zone, she took the opportunity to thank her supporters for their efforts in safeguarding her votes during the election.
“The political contest is now behind us. It’s time for all of us to work together and focus on driving the development agenda for Kawempe. This is about the common good of our people and our country,” she stated. “Given my strong ties to the leadership in State House, I am well-positioned to advocate for government-backed economic programs that can uplift our communities.”
Madina expressed sincere appreciation to her voters for their trust and the overwhelming support she received, which helped secure her position in the 12th Parliament. “I made a promise to work toward economic empowerment programs that will directly address household poverty, and I remain committed to delivering on that promise,” she added.
She also took a moment to thank President Museveni and the entire NRM leadership for their technical and logistical support during her campaign. With the election now behind her, Madina plans to soon engage with government officials, seeking support for her proposed development projects aimed at transforming the lives of Kawempe residents.
