The Mufti of Uganda, His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has called on Muslim youths to prioritize education and acquire life skills for community transformation.

He made the remarks while hosting a delegation from the Budaka Muslim District Da’wah and Developmental Association, led by its chairperson, Hassan Nsenye at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) headquarters.

The delegation included key personalities such as Sheikh Hamdan Monda, the Deputy Kadhi; Hajjat Fatuma Nagudi Norah, District Secretary for Women & Children; and Hamza Maberi, Patron of the Bugwere High School Muslim Students Association.
In his welcoming remarks, Mubaje expressed his delight at interacting with young people, emphasizing the historical role of the UMSC since its establishment in 1972.

He recounted the challenges the Council has faced and the significant achievements recorded over the past two decades under his leadership.
He urged the youths to remain focused on acquiring productive knowledge, including life skills, without neglecting Islamic teachings.

“Prioritize education at all costs; it is vital for community transformation,” he advised.

He also informed them about half-bursary opportunities for university education at Islamic Call University, as well as scholarships secured from other friendly tertiary institutions.
Mubaje responded positively to a request by Hajjat Fatuma Nagudi, who appealed for support in sponsoring female youths in tailoring.

She specifically highlighted the need for sewing machines to kick-start their project.
Nsenye expressed the group’s gratitude for the Mufti’s resilience in overcoming challenges, including attempts by some individuals to divide the Muslim community.

He also presented a development proposal for a concrete brick and paver-making project, which the Mufti pledged to forward to the National Management Committee for consideration.
Sheikh Imran Abdunoor Ssali encouraged the youths to take advantage of the UMSC’s inclusive leadership.

“The current administration has incorporated youths into its constitution, allowing some to head Council departments, which was not the case in the past. Utilize these great opportunities to become educated, enterprising, and innovative Muslims,” he advised.
Habib Mustafa, the UMSC National Youth Chairperson, shared updates on his office’s work and promised to visit Budaka to familiarize himself with their development initiatives.

Before their departure, the delegation toured the UMSC headquarters.
