Three people have died following a grisly road crash along Namirembe Road near KK Building in Kampala on Monday morning, October 5, 2026.
The crash occurred at about 9:30am when a Toyota Drone, registration number UBN 689A, reportedly lost control while descending Namirembe Road. The vehicle struck a pedestrian, who died at the scene, before colliding with a tricycle, UEF 033P, and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, UFE 015X. The vehicle eventually came to a stop after crashing into a Toyota Hiace, registration number UAS 346W.
Michael Kananura, spokesperson for the Traffic and Road Safety Directorate, said the crash was being investigated to establish the exact circumstances that led to the collision. “The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while descending Namirembe Road. Investigations are ongoing to establish what exactly caused the crash,” Kananura said.
Four other people sustained injuries in the crash and were rushed to hospital for medical attention. However, two of the injured victims later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the confirmed death toll to three.
Police have continued investigations into the crash as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
