Police in Nateete have successfully apprehended a notorious car thief, Mugisha Abdukarim, 36, an unemployed resident of Kanaba, Ndenjee Makindye Sabagaba, Wakiso District.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson said the arrest was made possible after police received a tip about a stolen motor vehicle from a resident of Kisigula.
Acting swiftly, police and community members chased down the suspect, leading to his capture. Mugisha has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, and relevant statements have been obtained. A search of his home uncovered breaking implements and three vehicle radios.
The stolen motor vehicle, registration number UAU 763 Z, was recovered from the suspect and exhibited as evidence. Notably, Mugisha is a habitual offender, having been released from Luzira Prison just last month. He has confessed to stealing multiple vehicles, and efforts are underway to recover them.
