KAMPALA, Uganda– The Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, has been widely commended for his pivotal role in securing victory for H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the recently concluded national elections.
In various congratulatory messages, NRM cadres and supporters across the country praised Todwong’s strategic leadership, tireless mobilisation, and firm coordination of party structures at national, regional, and grassroots levels.
His stewardship is credited with strengthening party cohesion and ensuring effective campaign execution throughout the electoral period.
Observers within the ruling party note that under Todwong’s leadership, the NRM revitalised its grassroots networks, enhanced voter mobilisation, and maintained discipline within party ranks—key factors that significantly contributed to President Museveni’s successful re-election.
The campaign emphasised continuity, stability, economic transformation, and peace, messages that strongly resonated with the electorate.
“This victory reflects your hard work, discipline, and ability to unite structures at all levels toward a common goal,” read one message of commendation from Hakim Muzamiru, an NRM cadre from the West Nile region.
“Your unwavering commitment to the Party has once again demonstrated your dedication to the NRM’s vision and to the continued stability and progress of our country.”
Rt. Hon. Todwong, who has previously served in various leadership roles within both government and the party, has been instrumental in shaping the NRM’s organisational strategy during a highly competitive electoral cycle.
Party officials say his inclusive leadership style and consistent engagement with regional leaders helped consolidate support across diverse communities.
“Thank you Ladit for breaking history with the landslide victory for both H.E. Yoweri Museveni and the party at large,” another message from Nicolas Tuhairwe read.
James Kaboneko, a youth leader from Busoga, said: “Our dear SG deserves a bigger position for this historic victory for our mighty party.”
As celebrations continue within NRM circles, supporters have expressed confidence that Todwong’s continued service will further strengthen the party and support the effective implementation of President Museveni’s agenda for national development.
The NRM leadership has reiterated its commitment to unity, improved service delivery, and the fulfillment of promises made to Ugandans during the campaign, as the country looks ahead to the next phase of governance.
