A fatal crash occurred this morning of March 12, 2025, at Ngato Swamp along the Gulu-Kamudini Highway in Oyam district, sealing off the route.
A trailer traveling towards Gulu developed mechanical issues and while its driver was fixing it, another trailer rammed into it, killing that driver instantly and injuring the other one driving.
Michael Kananura, the traffic community liason officer, said the incident has completely blocked the road and efforts are underway to tow the vehicles.
He urged the motorists to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
He advised that the Gulu-bound motorists can divert via Minakulu town council, connect to Oyam-Lira road-Kamudini; Kampala-bound motorists to divert at Kamudini-Atapara-Oyam road-Minakulu-Gulu Road; while the Lira-bound motorists to connect to Aboke-Iceme Road in Oyam-Bobi-Gulu Road-Gulu.
The Kampala-bound heavily loaded trucks are advised to divert from Kamudini-Aboke-Iceme-Bobi-Gulu Highway while the Gulu-bound heavily loaded trucks: Divert from Bobi & follow the same route up to Kamudini.
Kananura has urged motorists to exercise patience and discipline, and also adhere to directives from officers on the ground.
