Police in Nsangi have recovered a motorcycle stolen during a violent robbery in Wakiso District and seized another motorcycle believed to have been used by the attackers as investigations into the incident continue.
The robbery occurred on the night of July 15, 2026, along the Katereke–Muzinda Road in Nsangi–Kyengera Town Council.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Luke Owoyesigyire, the victim, a boda boda rider, had picked up a passenger at Stabex Petrol Station in Nansana at about 8:40pm after the customer requested to be taken to Nsangi.
Upon reaching the vicinity of Nsangi Police Station, the passenger reportedly instructed the rider to continue towards Katereke–Muzinda Road.
As they passed through a secluded section near the Mpigi Bypass, they encountered two men who had allegedly stretched a rope across the road to force the motorcycle to stop.
Police said the passenger then grabbed the rider by the neck, allowing the two accomplices to pull him off the motorcycle before fleeing with it.
The passenger escaped into nearby bushes shortly after the attack.
The stolen motorcycle, registration number UMA 895GN, was recovered a few hours later after it was abandoned in Kasenge Zone, Kikajo Ward, Kyengera Town Council.
Investigators also recovered a second motorcycle, registration number UDJ 362B, which detectives believe was used by the suspects during the robbery.
Police said investigations are ongoing to identify, trace and arrest all those involved before they are arraigned in court.
