Police in Mukono District have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the possession and alleged sale of a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen.
According the Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspect, identified as Ibrahim Kiwanuka, was apprehended following a police operation launched after residents reported that he was allegedly dealing in suspected stolen motorcycles in Kakoola Village.
He reported that officers from Kalagi Police Station acted on the tip-off on June 7, 2026, and moved to the area to investigate.
However, the suspect reportedly fled when he noticed the police presence, abandoning a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle bearing registration number UFA 475M. The motorcycle was recovered and taken to Kalagi Police Station for further examination.
After two days of follow-up operations, police tracked down and arrested Kiwanuka on June 9, 2026 at Kawoomya Village. During the arrest, officers allegedly recovered suspected master keys from his possession, a development investigators say could be crucial to the case.
Authorities have since launched investigations to establish the rightful ownership of the recovered motorcycle and determine how it came into the suspect’s possession.
Owoyesigyire said inquiries are ongoing and additional leads are being pursued as detectives work to uncover whether the motorcycle is linked to a wider network of vehicle theft.
