The Presidential Advisor on Agriculture, Peace Rugambwa, has met with local artistes from the Western region to drum up support for NRM flagbearer, President Yoweri Museveni, ahead of the 2026 polls.
Rugambwa is mobilising support for President Museveni, who is facing off against seven other presidential aspirants as he prepares to launch his campaign trail in the Western region.
The other presidential aspirants include retired Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu of ANT, Robert Kyagulanyi of NUP, Nandala Mafabi of FDC, Mubarak Munyagwa of the Common Man’s Party (CMP), Frank Bulira of the Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP), Robert Kasibante of the National People’s Party (NPP), and Joseph Mabirizi of the Conservative Party (CP).
The presidential advisor is campaigning under the slogan: “Team Peace Rugambwa – President Museveni 2026–2031.”
She has produced posters featuring the Senior Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security, Gen. Salim Saleh, herself, and President Museveni, which are displayed at every venue where she holds a campaign rally.
Rugambwa pledged to give UGX 200 million to support the formation of SACCOS for artistes.
While addressing artistes at Rwentobo Town Council in Ntungamo District, she appealed to them to rally the people of Western Uganda to elect Museveni in the 2026 general elections.
Rugambwa also met NRM flagbearers from Rukungiri District and urged them to work together to campaign for the incumbent president’s re-election in the 2026 polls.
The musicians thanked the presidential advisor for the UGX 200 million pledge, saying they were ready to hit the road and campaign for Museveni and all NRM flagbearers — ranging from councillors and LC5s to Members of Parliament.
“We are ready to mobilise votes for Mzee Museveni,” said Shine Omukiga, chairperson of the Greater Kigezi Musicians Association.
After meeting the artistes, Rugambwa also met with radio presenters, social media influencers, and media practitioners, urging them to mobilise support for President Museveni.
