KAMPALA, Uganda- Rita Namuwenge, the former National Coordinator of the Emyooga Program under the Office of the President, has pledged to promote inclusive, people-centered leadership with a strong focus on fighting household poverty and driving socio-economic empowerment.
In an exclusive interview, Namuwenge confirmed that she has picked up expression of interest forms to contest for the Mbale City Woman Member of Parliament seat on the NRM ticket. She promised to use her extensive experience in community mobilization to ensure residents of Mbale benefit from government initiatives such as the Emyooga Program, which she previously led at the national level.
“I have officially picked the forms and I am ready to serve the people of Mbale City as their Woman MP. I appeal to my people for support so we can work together in the 12th Parliament to advocate for impactful programs and projects that improve livelihoods,” Namuwenge said.
She also expressed her intention to leverage her close working relationship with the President to lobby for key infrastructure improvements in Mbale City.
