MUYENGA, Kampala: Rotarian Assistant Governor from the Rotary Club of Entebbe, Roland Ssenyondwa, has urged Rotary clubs to establish buddy groups, emphasizing their critical role in nurturing membership growth and enhancing participation in project activities.
Roland made the remarks during his visit to the Rotary Club of Kiwafu Breeze Muyenga, where he delivered a keynote presentation on the core values of Rotary buddy groups. He highlighted their importance in stimulating collective participation in Rotary initiatives and fostering development efforts aimed at serving vulnerable communities.
He noted that club leadership must develop strategies focused on internal engagement, including friendly competitions that encourage new member recruitment, active participation in weekly fellowship meetings, and voluntary contributions toward key club projects.
Roland also encouraged new members to regularly engage in club activities and community outreach programs. These include initiatives such as mobilizing communities for child immunization services, promoting health and sanitation awareness, and advocating for children’s access to education.
In appreciation of the keynote address, the club president, Erostus Nsubuga Njuki, said the insights shared were instrumental in strengthening members’ capacity to promote impactful community activities.
He revealed that preparations for upcoming community outreach programs scheduled for April are in advanced stages. These include a medical camp supported by DFCU Bank, to be held at Greenhill Academy, with collaboration from Kampala International University (KIU) and Clark University.
The club has mobilized a team of medical professionals to provide free services such as sickle cell testing, malaria screening, blood donation, and mental health counseling, among others.
Njuki encouraged all stakeholders and community members to turn up in large numbers to benefit from the comprehensive medical camp.
