RwandAir has once again taken top honors at the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards, securing the coveted title of Best Regional Airline in Africa.
The award was announced during the Paris Air Show, one of the most influential events on the global aviation calendar.
This prestigious recognition cements RwandAir’s reputation as a leading force in African aviation and affirms the airline’s growing stature on the international stage. It also reflects RwandAir’s increasing brand equity, service maturity, and strategic ambition to be the region’s carrier of choice.

Skytrax, the UK-based aviation ratings agency that organizes the awards, praised RwandAir for delivering a “professional, considered, and personal experience” that continues to set it apart in the regional category.
“RwandAir continues to distinguish itself through a clear focus on service attention,” said Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax. “The airline has created an experience that stands out in its category, professional, considered, and personal, as it continues to evolve its regional product with confidence.”
Operating from its hub at Kigali International Airport, RwandAir serves a rapidly growing network that spans Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. While it has begun expanding into long-haul markets, the airline’s core strength remains its efficient and consistently reliable regional operations.
The 2025 World Airline Awards were based on feedback from over 22.3 million survey entries submitted by travelers of more than 100 nationalities between September 2024 and May 2025. Now in its 26th year, the Skytrax survey is regarded as one of the most independent and comprehensive assessments of global airline service quality.
RwandAir’s continued recognition in recent years highlights its increasing passenger loyalty and strong performance in key service areas such as punctuality, onboard hospitality, cabin cleanliness, and staff professionalism.
“We are honored to receive this recognition and grateful to our passengers for their continued trust,” RwandAir said in a statement following the announcement in Paris.
Elevating African Aviation
RwandAir’s latest win marks another milestone for Africa’s regional aviation sector, where carriers are playing an increasingly important role in enhancing connectivity and driving economic integration. While larger legacy airlines dominate long-haul routes, regional operators like RwandAir are transforming the intra-African travel experience, offering modern fleets, customer-first service, and efficient transit hubs.
This achievement also aligns with Rwanda’s broader ambitions to establish Kigali as a premium aviation hub for East and Central Africa. RwandAir’s performance directly supports national goals for economic diversification and tourism growth, strategies that will be further bolstered by the upcoming Bugesera International Airport, set to significantly expand the country’s passenger-handling capacity.
For travel advisors, corporate mobility planners, and tour operators across Africa and beyond, RwandAir’s continued accolades reinforce its status as a trusted and competitive choice for regional connectivity, particularly within key blocs such as COMESA and the East African Community (EAC).
As the Paris Air Show showcases aerospace innovation and strategic industry developments, RwandAir’s recognition shines a spotlight on African aviation’s potential. The carrier’s ascent is a reminder that service excellence, operational reliability, and regional focus remain key differentiators in today’s competitive air travel landscape.
