A suspected burglar met a violent end in Kazo Central Zone II, Nansana Division, after a confrontation with a private security guard escalated into mob justice in the early hours of October 28, 2025.
According to police reports, a 28-year-old security guard Ahamed Achem, stationed at a building housing Hajji Supermarket, spotted a man allegedly attempting to break into one of the shops.
When confronted, the suspect reportedly stabbed Achem twice in the head, leaving him gravely injured.
The guard’s alarm drew local residents, who quickly overpowered the suspect identified only as Julius, believed to be around 30 years old.
Before law enforcement arrived, the crowd reportedly assaulted Julius, resulting in his death. His body was later taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan, said investigators from Kawempe Division have visited the scene, gathered witness statements, and collected evidence as part of ongoing inquiries.
The police have condemned the use of mob justice, urging the public to hand over suspected criminals to authorities to ensure proper legal procedures are followed.
Owoyesigyire said investigations into the incident continue, as authorities seek to piece together the events that led to this tragic confrontation.
However, he cautioned the public, stressing that taking the law into one’s own hands endangers both suspects and bystanders.
