Total Energies Uganda in collaboration with Green Hub Uganda has today 5, October 2024, launched the Public Electric Charging solutions at the Wampewo Service Station in Kampala. This is a true testament of TotalEnergies’ unwavering dedication to being a major player in the energy transition and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Speaking at the launch, H.E Steven Kaboyo, chairman of the advisory board of Total Energies Uganda said that the launch the public electric vehicle charging solution is a great milestone and it marks a significant strides in the company’s journey toward a sustainable future.
“Total energy is proud to introduce this first public EV charging solution on its service station network, a true symbol of the commitment to promoting renewable decarbonized energies. This initiative is part of the broader strategy to make electric mobility more accessible to customers and to support the growing demand for cleaner and more reliable and sustainable energy solutions. I must say that what we’re doing here today fits in very well with Uganda’s National Energy Transition Plan, which sets a very feasible plan and the pathway to achieve clean energy for the country’s economic transformation going forward’’ H.E Kaboyo stated.
“We give thanks to green hub Uganda and centenary, which have joined us in making this reality, working together with partners, we think we can expand the E mobility charging network, enabling significant strides towards the greener future. The lunch further underscores the collective effort required to achieve a shared vision.” He Noted
He added that “Being the first Electric bike charging point on our service station network, it marks the start of a journey in which other electric charging points will be subsequently rolled out at other TotalEnergies service station locations’’.
The electric charging points are an energy solution to the growing number of Electric bikes being used in the country including the first batch of 26 Electric bikes under Green Hub.
The collaboration with Green Hub, an organization that is passionate about empowering women in the e-mobility space, is through a consortium of like who include MTN, Centenary Bank, TVS, Women Rising for Africa, the and the Government of Uganda.
So far, TotalEnergies has contributed $ 5000 to boost the acquisition of Electric bikes by the female riders in addition of 400 helmets.
Total Energies being a multi-energy company with an ambition premised on zeal to avail cleaner and more accessible energy to its customers, remains committed to transforming its product and service offerings to meet the growing energy needs. It is for this reason that the company has also launched an Electric Vehicle charging point at the same time as part of the initial roll-out phase across the service station network in the country.
