EDUCATION:   The fraternity of Trinity College Nabbingo has commended its outgoing Deputy Headteacher, Akuwa Clemensia, for her outstanding contribution to the college’s development agenda.

The Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Rev. Fr. Dr. John Mary Sebunya, applauded Clemensia for her hard work and dedication in serving the college with dignity.

The College Headmistress, Immaculate Nasozi Lwanga, congratulated her upon her promotion and transfer as the new Headmistress of St. Kizito Secondary School, Katikamu Kisule, noting that the college strongly appreciates her contributions.

She was awarded an assortment of gifts in appreciation of her service as a God-fearing, dedicated, and humble lady of substance.

She Tells Her Story

From Classroom Teacher to Headteacher: A Journey of Faith, Service, and Impact

Clemensia Akuwa, Now the Headteacher at St. Kizito S.S. Katikamu Kisule

My journey in education has been one of faith, resilience, growth, and an unwavering commitment to transforming lives. I strongly believe that education is not just about passing examinations, but about shaping character, nurturing potential, and preparing young people to become responsible and productive members of society.

My passion for teaching and mentorship began early in my life. During my Senior Six vacation and subsequent holidays, I had the opportunity to serve at St. Joseph’s Vocational Secondary School Kigando, where I began impacting young learners. That experience ignited my desire to become a professional teacher and devote my life to education.

I later undertook my teaching practice at St. Henry’s College Kitovu for two consecutive years, where I gained practical teaching experience and deepened my understanding of learners’ needs, classroom management, and effective instruction.

After graduation, I was posted to Bukandula Secondary School in Gomba District, where I joined the government payroll. This marked the beginning of my formal professional journey as an educator. While at Bukandula S.S., I committed myself to delivering quality education and supporting learners in achieving their academic goals.

I later joined Trinity College Nabbingo as a classroom teacher, where I served for over a decade. During my time there, I took on additional responsibilities as a Housemistress and Head of Department roles that strengthened my leadership, mentorship, and administrative skills. In these capacities, I guided students both academically and socially, helping to nurture discipline, responsibility, and personal growth.

Through these roles, I had the privilege of positively impacting many lives—mentoring students, guiding them through challenges, and watching them grow into confident and capable individuals. This remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.

Following my successful performance in the Education Service Commission interviews, I was promoted to the position of Deputy Headteacher and posted to St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School, Kasasa. This marked a significant milestone in my leadership journey, exposing me to higher-level school administration and strategic management.

I was later transferred back to Trinity College Nabbingo, where I served for eight years as Deputy Headteacher in charge of Administration and Welfare. In this role, I worked closely with the school leadership, staff, and students to strengthen systems that promote discipline, student welfare, and effective school management. I also continued teaching Entrepreneurship Education, equipping learners with practical skills in creativity, innovation, and self-reliance.

Today, by God’s grace, I serve as the Headteacher of St. Kizito Senior Secondary School, Katikamu Kisule. I embrace this new position with humility, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility. My vision is to promote academic excellence, strengthen discipline, support talent development through co-curricular activities, and improve infrastructure to create a conducive learning environment.

I am committed to working collaboratively with teachers, parents, the Board of Governors, the Ministry of Education and Sports, and all stakeholders to ensure that the school continues to grow and excel.

Throughout my journey, one principle has remained constant: the desire to positively impact lives. Whether in the classroom, in administration, or in leadership, my goal has always been to guide, mentor, and inspire learners to realize their full potential.

As we continue this journey at St. Kizito S.S. Katikamu Kisule, I am guided by our motto: “Faith and Toil.” It is through faith in God and commitment to hard work that we shall achieve excellence and build a brighter future for our learners.
