KAMPALA– Uganda communications commission (UCC) has partnered with the Mariam Ndagire and performing arts Centre to offer a free five-day specialist training workshop for young people interested in the film making industry.
The film producer, marketing and promoter specialist at UCC Leonard Amanya told over 50 participants during the opening ceremony at Bat Valley primary school auditorium that UCC is committed to build the capacity of the local film industry.
The training brought together participants from Masaka, Fort Portal, Jiuba South Sudan and Metropolitan Kampala among them film commentators, entertainment scribes and Radio entertainment program producers, hosts and anchors among others.
The training titled “introduction to Film production” cover 3 phases of Pre, production and post production film fundamentals
Amanya who is the 1st Ugandan to sit on the International Emmys academy of science and arts pointed out that they have conducted similar training workshops in Lira in North, Tororo in Eastern, Ntungamo in western and Mubende in Central region.
The areas of training include camera handling, editing, sound systems, script writing, film directing cinematography among others.
He urged the youth to embrace filmmaking industry as a profession because of the potential opportunities embedded in this sector.
The director Mariam Ndagire and performing arts centre, Ms. Mariam Ndagire said that her school specializes in training young people in the film making industry and it has empowered more people to embrace the industry.
