BEIJING, China, (UGNEWSLINE) — Uganda is using its 64th Independence Anniversary celebrations in Beijing to promote investment opportunities, expand trade and tourism, and strengthen economic ties with China as Kampala seeks to accelerate national development through strategic international partnerships.

The Embassy of Uganda in Beijing and the country’s Consulate General in Guangzhou are jointly hosting a reception at the China World Summit Wing Hotel, bringing together members of the diplomatic corps, senior Chinese government officials, Ugandans living in China and private sector representatives from both countries.

The event places investment and economic cooperation at the centre of this year’s celebrations, held under the theme “Sustained Growth and Investment for National Transformation”. The theme reflects Uganda’s ambition to attract capital, expand productive capacity and build partnerships to support economic growth and long-term national transformation.

China remains an important partner in Uganda’s efforts to broaden its international economic engagement, with the anniversary reception providing a platform to strengthen business links and highlight opportunities for cooperation between companies and investors in the two countries.

The chief guest, Hu Changchun, China’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered the keynote address, underscoring the importance of continued engagement and cooperation between Uganda and China.

The gathering also offered an opportunity for Ugandan diplomatic representatives to engage Chinese officials, business leaders and other international stakeholders on the prospects for deeper economic relations, with investment, trade and tourism forming key areas of focus.

As Uganda marks more than six decades of independence, the celebrations in Beijing serve not only as a commemoration of the country’s national history but also as a platform to advance its economic diplomacy and strengthen ties with one of its key international partners.
