Jinja, Uganda – In a vibrant showcase of agricultural innovation and cross-border collaboration, PostBank Uganda made a significant impact at the 31st National Agricultural Show in Jinja, capturing the interest of farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and regional delegates with its inclusive and specialized financial solutions for the agricultural sector.

The week-long exhibition, which ran from June 27 to July 5 under the theme “Technological Innovations Driving Agricultural Wealth,” attracted thousands of participants from across Uganda and neighboring countries. Among the attendees were delegations of women farmers from Kenya and Zambia, who joined their Ugandan counterparts to explore new tools and partnerships to boost agricultural productivity.

PostBank’s standout session focused on empowering rural farmers—particularly women-led groups—through access to tailor-made financial products such as the Large-Scale Commercial Farmers Scheme (LSCFS) and Grow Loans. The session was led by Julius Akais, Supervisor of Agriculture & Partnerships at PostBank, who provided valuable insights into the bank’s inclusive financing models and commitment to driving rural economic growth.

“PostBank continues to play a key role as a financing partner in Uganda’s agricultural transformation,” Akais emphasized. “Our mission to Foster Prosperity for Ugandans drives our efforts to support smallholder farmers, especially women and informal cooperatives, with the tools they need to thrive.”

During an interactive training attended by over 25 women leaders from Uganda, Kenya, and Zambia, Akais outlined the bank’s innovative Farmers Group Lending Model, Input Financing, and Seasonal Loan Structures. He also highlighted the importance of environmental and social governance (ESG) in agriculture financing, mobile and agency banking access, and partnerships with sector actors such as irrigation and mechanization service providers.

The session not only demystified financial tools for rural women but also emphasized the economic empowerment of women in agriculture—a critical step toward building resilient farming communities across East and Southern Africa.

The annual National Agricultural Show served as the perfect platform for PostBank to deepen engagement with stakeholders, from agro-input suppliers and development partners to regulatory institutions like the Bank of Uganda.

PostBank’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. In early June, the bank was recognized at the Bank of Uganda’s Agriculture Credit Facility (ACF) and Small Business Recovery Fund (SBRF) Awards, walking away with five awards and eleven certificates for its leadership in inclusive agricultural financing.

As Uganda continues to prioritize agriculture—a sector that employs nearly 60% of its population—PostBank stands out as a committed and innovative partner, helping unlock the sector’s vast potential for sustainable national development.
