JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – APO Group (www.APO-opa.com), Africa’s leading pan-African communications consultancy and press release distribution service, has secured top honours at the 2025 SABRE Awards Africa, taking home the Gold Award for its groundbreaking “World Unseen Experience” campaign with Canon Central and North Africa.
The winning campaign, unveiled at GITEX Africa, highlighted Canon’s innovative approach to accessibility by using tactile imagery to make photography and art accessible to people with visual impairments. The initiative was widely applauded for its creativity, social impact, and transformative storytelling.
“This award is particularly meaningful,” said Bas Wijne, Chief Executive Officer of APO Group. “Canon’s World Unseen campaign is a shining example of how communications can champion accessibility and inclusivity. It’s an honour to have this work recognised at such a prestigious level.”
In addition to its gold win, APO Group was named a finalist in five other categories, showcasing the agency’s cross-sector excellence and its role in shaping purpose-led communications across Africa. The shortlisted campaigns include:
GITEX Africa 2024 – Africa’s largest tech and startup show
Africa’s Business Heroes 2023 – Supporting African entrepreneurship
Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) – Advancing African business globally
Canon Central and North Africa’s 10 Years of Miraisha – Celebrating a decade of empowerment
“These accolades are a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence,” said Rania El-Rafie, APO Group’s Vice President of Public Relations & Strategic Communications. “We are proud to collaborate with visionary clients who entrust us with telling Africa’s most impactful and authentic stories.”
The SABRE Awards are globally recognised as a benchmark for excellence in strategic communications, branding, and reputation management. APO Group’s World Unseen campaign had already earned international recognition earlier this year, securing both gold and bronze at the 2025 Davos Communications Awards.
This recognition further solidifies APO Group’s status as Africa’s only fully integrated 360-degree communications consultancy, offering end-to-end PR services alongside its proprietary press release distribution platform, Africa Newsroom.
