Kampala, Uganda – In a move aimed at improving fire prevention and safety awareness in Uganda, SafePro Fire Services has officially launched the country’s first dedicated fire safety showroom in the heart of Kampala’s industrial area, China Town.
The state-of-the-art showroom is managed by Kothia Monishaa, who has been instrumental in establishing SafePro as a comprehensive provider of fire safety solutions. Speaking at the launch, Monishaa emphasized the showroom’s multi-faceted role.
“We don’t just sell fire safety equipment — we train, install, supply, and maintain,” she said. “From schools to factories, new business owners to large corporations, our goal is to make Kampala and Uganda fire-safe.”
A Comprehensive Safety Hub
The showroom features a wide range of fire prevention and protection products, including dry chemical powder extinguishers for multi-purpose use, carbon dioxide extinguishers ideal for electrical fires, and other state-of-the-art suppression systems. The facility is designed to offer hands-on training and tailored fire safety consultations.
SafePro also offers Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) to ensure equipment remains in optimal condition — a critical step often overlooked by businesses and homeowners alike.
“Whether you’re a one-person company or have a staff of 100, fire safety matters. We want to build long-term relationships with our clients,” Monishaa added. “It’s not just about selling; it’s about ensuring quality, sustainability, and awareness.”
Bridging the Fire Safety Gap
Senior Commissioner of Police and Deputy Director of Fire Prevention and Rescue Services, Eng. Kugonza Franklin, lauded SafePro’s initiative as a welcome addition to national fire safety efforts.
“This showroom helps us as police by bridging the gap between emergency response and prevention,” he said. “Many times, by the time we are called, the damage is already done. But with increased awareness and access to proper equipment, more fires can be stopped before they escalate.”
He also urged the public to rethink their perception of cost when it comes to safety:
“If you think investing in fire safety is expensive, try a fire. A small extinguisher worth UGX 50,000 can save a car worth millions.”
Fire Preparedness Across All Sectors
Mubarak Kirunda Nkuutu, Director of Business Development at the Uganda Manufacturers Association, emphasized the importance of this initiative in industrial and commercial sectors.
“Many of our manufacturers and businesses have not been adequately fire prepared. SafePro’s entry into the market is timely. Through platforms like the upcoming Uganda International Trade Fair in October, we plan to showcase SafePro’s services to a larger audience,” Nkuutu said.
He noted that recent fire incidents in schools, offices, and factories underscore the urgent need for accessible and reliable safety infrastructure.
Changing the Mindset
Monishaa also spoke candidly about common misconceptions:
“People assume fire safety is costly or only needed in factories, but it’s just as important for homes and cars. After the COVID-19 lockdowns, we saw an increase in fire outbreaks, often caused by electrical faults and poor infrastructure. Simple, affordable prevention tools can make a huge difference.”
