The Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Uganda has elected Pastor Samuel Kajoba as the new President (commonly referred to as Archbishop) of the Uganda Union Mission, the top administrative body overseeing the denomination’s work in the country.
Pastor Kajoba will serve a five-year term from 2025 to 2030, succeeding Pastor Dr. Maka Moses Ndimukika, who was appointed Executive Secretary of the East-Central Africa Division (ECD) of the SDA Church.
The announcement was made by the Communication Department of the Uganda Union Mission following the conclusion of a leadership election conducted by the Nominating Committee, chaired by ECD President Dr. Blasious Ruguri. Uganda was represented on the committee by Pastor Edward Muwanga, President of the South-Western Uganda Field, and Esther Waiswa, Youth Director at Uganda Union Mission.
Kajoba brings decades of experience in pastoral ministry, education, and church administration.
Prior to his election, he served as the Director of the Central Uganda Field, earning a reputation for his faithful service and effective leadership.
Joining the new leadership team is Pr. Nicholas Bitamazire, elected as Executive Secretary of the Union.
A seasoned minister known for his commitment to discipleship and pastoral care, Bitamazire also brings significant experience in chaplaincy and church administration.
In charge of the financial arm of the Union is Elder Isaac Lyadda, who will serve as Treasurer.
His appointment is expected to enhance the financial stewardship and accountability within the Church’s operations in Uganda.
“The new team assumes office effective immediately and will provide spiritual and administrative leadership to advance the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda,” the statement from the Church read.
The Uganda Union Mission is part of the East-Central Africa Division, which coordinates SDA activities in 11 countries across the region, including Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Uganda.
The division’s mission is “to make disciples of all people, communicating the everlasting gospel in the context of the Three Angel’s Messages of Revelation 14:6–12.”
Kajoba’s appointment is expected to invigorate the Church’s work in evangelism, education, and community development across Uganda, building on the foundations laid by his predecessors.
