President Museveni Unveils Comprehensive Plans for Health, Education, Infrastructure, and Economic Growth in Lango Sub-region

Amolatar, Uganda – In his first public rally in Lango sub-region, at Amolatar Senior Secondary School, National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni outlined a bold series of plans to boost the region’s development, tackle corruption in government health facilities, and improve the lives of residents across multiple sectors.

The rally, attended by a large crowd of supporters, was marked by President Museveni’s commitment to continue transforming the country, particularly in areas of health, infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment.

Fighting Drug Theft in Government Health Facilities

One of the most significant announcements made by General Museveni was his pledge to establish an independent spy network to track and eliminate the theft of drugs in government health facilities. The President emphasized that while the NRM government has made notable strides in disease prevention through initiatives such as immunization programs, there remain challenges in curative services due to drug theft, which hampers the quality of care in public hospitals.

“The NRM government has made significant strides in the health sector, but some gaps in curative services are caused by theft of essential drugs. In my next term, we will institute a dedicated spy network to address this issue and ensure that every Ugandan receives the care they deserve,” Museveni promised.

Infrastructure and Road Development

President Museveni also confirmed plans to significantly improve infrastructure in the Lango sub-region, including tarmacking roads connecting Amolatar district to other parts of the sub-region. He highlighted key projects such as the road linking Amolatar to Dokolo, Namasale, and the Ocero road. “Infrastructure is crucial for development, and our government is committed to improving roads to ensure better connectivity and ease of transport in the region,” he added.

Reviving the Fishing Industry and Wetland Management

Turning his focus to the economy, Museveni revealed plans for a thorough fishing management system and wetland utilization for increased productivity. He cited the success of the revived Limoto fishing scheme in Pallisa district as a model to follow. “We want to build on this success and expand the fishing industry to benefit the people of Lango and the entire country,” he said.

Education and Teacher Recruitment

In a bid to strengthen the education sector, President Museveni unveiled plans to construct a government primary school in each of the few remaining parishes in the region, as well as a secondary school for every sub-county. The President also confirmed the recruitment of over 50,000 teachers nationwide to address the chronic shortage of staff in public schools. These measures, he said, will not only improve access to education but also eliminate extortion by public school administrators, ensuring the successful implementation of affordable day schooling.

Economic Empowerment and Support for Key Sectors

Museveni assured the electorate that the NRM government would continue to support various sectors, including fishermen and boda boda riders, through targeted support funds. This would supplement existing initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga programs, which have already begun improving livelihoods in many regions.

“We will continue to support our people by providing funding to key sectors such as fishing and transport. This, alongside the PDM and Emyooga, will help boost incomes and create more opportunities for all Ugandans,” he explained.

Cattle Restocking and Rehabilitation

General Museveni also lauded the people of Amolatar district for embracing the government’s cattle restocking program, which aims to provide five cows to each homestead. This initiative is part of the wider rehabilitation plan for the region, which has faced challenges from the effects of the LRA insurgency and cattle rustling. “We will continue to empower our people through such programs to ensure that no family is left behind,” he remarked.

Transformative Leadership and Commitment to Development

In her remarks, NRM’s Second National Vice Chairperson Female, Anita Among who also the speaker of Parliament, urged the electorate in Amolatar to recognize the NRM’s transformative leadership and the progress it has brought to the region. “The NRM has changed the lives of our people, and we must continue supporting President Museveni to keep this transformation going,” she said.

Dennis Hamson Obua, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significant role Museveni has played in restoring peace and stability in the region. “Peace has created an enabling environment for development in Northern Uganda, and President Museveni’s leadership is the reason for this progress. It’s time to secure the future by voting for him again,” Obua said.

A Strong Political Platform for Amolatar’s Future

Amolatar District NRM Chairperson Kamilo Olwit expressed confidence in the party’s chances, noting the positive impact the NRM has had on the local community, including the flourishing water transport system on Lake Kyoga, improved health services, and socioeconomic programs like PDM. “The people of Amolatar have benefited greatly from NRM policies, and they are ready to reaffirm their support for President Museveni in the upcoming election,” Olwit stated.
