2026 General Election: President Museveni Pledges Improved Education, Healthcare, and Infrastructure in Madi Okollo

Madi Okollo, Uganda — National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has pledged significant improvements in education, healthcare, and infrastructure in Madi Okollo District as part of his next term agenda.

While addressing a campaign rally at Ajai Sports ground in Madi Okollo, President Museveni acknowledged gaps in the distribution of government services, particularly in the education and health sectors. He promised corrective measures to ensure equitable access and better service delivery for all communities in the district.

Education for All

Museveni revealed that out of the 69 government primary schools in Madi Okollo, only 32 of the district’s 46 parishes are currently served. He vowed to rectify this imbalance by ensuring each parish has access to a primary school. Additionally, he committed to constructing five new secondary schools in the five sub-counties that currently lack one.

“This move will help realize the full implementation of free universal education for all children,” Museveni said, emphasizing that education remains a cornerstone of Uganda’s development agenda.

Upgrading Health Services

In the health sector, Museveni pledged to elevate Rhino Camp Health Centre IV to the status of a General District Hospital — a long-standing need in Madi Okollo. He further committed to establishing Health Centre IIIs in each of the district’s 12 sub-counties to ensure uniform access to healthcare services.

“Madi Okollo has made progress in lower-level health centers, but the absence of a general hospital remains a gap we are determined to fill in the next term,” Museveni assured.

Promoting Wealth Creation at Household Level

President Museveni also urged residents to embrace wealth creation at the household level, stating that while the government focuses on national development, individuals must use the resources provided to uplift their incomes.

He highlighted the success of the Parish Development Model (PDM), noting that over UGX 14 billion has been disbursed to 13,796 beneficiaries in the district under various government empowerment schemes, including youth and women initiatives.

“Development is the role of government, but wealth must be created by the people. Each parish receives UGX 100 million annually — use it wisely to improve your lives,” Museveni advised.

Road Infrastructure Improvements

President Museveni also announced that new tarmac road projects are scheduled to begin between 2025 and 2026 to supplement the current network in Madi Okollo. He reassured residents that under the national road maintenance program managed by the Ministry of Works and Transport, the district will see vast improvements in road quality.

“There will be no excuse for bad roads in the next term. Infrastructure will be a strong focus,” he said.

First Lady Urges Voter Participation

Speaking at the same rally, First Lady Maama Janet Kataha Museveni called on all eligible voters in Madi Okollo to turn out in full force on election day.

“Do not allow anyone of voting age to miss this opportunity. Vote for President Museveni to continue the unity and progress we have achieved together,” she urged.
