Exim Bank Uganda Limited has partnered with Roofings Group to promote environmental sustainability. The collaboration, grounded in both organizations’ commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, will involve the distribution of 700 fruit trees donated by Roofings to Exim Bank customers across the country.
Acting Exim Bank Deputy CEO, Anthony Mariiro, said the initiative aims to empower individuals and communities to participate in climate action by promoting tree planting, food security, and environmental stewardship.
“Each tree provided under the program serves as a living symbol of the joint commitment by Exim Bank and Roofings Group to mitigate climate change and promote a greener Uganda,” said Mariiro.
He added, “Environmental sustainability is not just a corporate responsibility—it is a shared duty. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire long-term community engagement in the fight against climate change while providing tangible benefits such as fruit production and soil conservation.”
The 700 fruit trees including mango, avocado, and jackfruit varieties will be distributed to select Exim Bank customers as part of the bank’s broader ESG efforts to integrate sustainable practices into its operations and community engagement.
Stuart Jason Mwesigwa, Roofings Group Corporate Affairs Manager, emphasized the role of financial institutions in driving sustainable change.
“This partnership with Exim Bank reflects our deep commitment to environmental responsibility. By empowering our customers to plant and nurture fruit trees, we not only offset carbon emissions but also enhance livelihoods and food security within our communities,” Mwesigwa said.
