Police at Old Kampala Police Station are investigating a double murder that occurred on 16th December 2025 at about 11:00 pm in Kawempe Zone, Kisenyi III Parish, Kampala Central Division.
It is alleged that a 30-year-old male suspect, identified as Emma alias “Young,” a Burundian national and resident of the area, attacked and killed two fellow Burundian male adults aged approximately 30 and 20 years.
The first victim was allegedly attacked while returning from work as a hawker and died instantly after his neck was cut. The suspect then reportedly moved about 300 meters to the second victim’s residence, where he attacked him while asleep and similarly caused instant death.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy police spokesperson, Kampala Metrpolitan, after the attacks, the suspect is said to have inflicted serious injuries on himself by cutting his neck. Members of the public restrained him and alerted Police.
He was found in critical condition and rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment under Police guard.
Owoyesigyire said police visited and documented both crime scenes, recovered two knives suspected to have been used in the attacks, recorded statements from witnesses, and conveyed the bodies for postmortem examination.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the victims and trace their next of kin as investigations into the motive and circumstances of the incident continue.
