Police in Nakasongala are investigating a fatal road crash that claimed the lives of two people and left four others seriously injured in the early hours of Tuesday morning, December 16, 2025.
The accident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. along Wabigalo Road in Nakasongala District, within the Savannah Region. The vehicle involved, a silver Toyota Hilux registration number LG 0072087, belongs to Nakasongala District Local Government.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the vehicle was traveling from Nakasongala town toward Wabigalo Trading Centre at a high speed when the driver failed to negotiate a corner, lost control, veered off the road, rammed into a nearby building fence, and overturned.
Two occupants died on the spot and were later identified as Mwebaza Ivan (32), a district driver, and Stella (30), a female adult.
Four other occupants sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Nakasongala Health Centre IV for treatment. The injured victims have been identified as: Orech Rogers (31), Mugabi Joshua (31), Daphin (24), and Mukanambala Faridah (34)
Police officers promptly responded to the scene, documented the crash, and drew a sketch plan. The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Nakasongala Health Centre IV mortuary pending postmortem examinations, while the wrecked vehicle was towed to Nakasongala Police Station for mechanical inspection.
Confirming the incident, Sam Twiineamazima, the Public Relations Officer for Savannah Region Policin area, urged motorists to exercise caution.
“Preliminary findings point to excessive speed as a major factor in this tragic crash. We strongly urge all road users to observe speed limits, especially during this festive season, to prevent such avoidable loss of life,” Twiineamazima said.
Police continue with inquiries to establish further circumstances surrounding the accident.
