Holly Month of Ramadan — With Ramadan set to begin this Wednesday, Royco has officially launched its 2026 Ramadan campaign through a special pre-Ramadan Darasa held at Hotel Africana.
The Darasa session, organized in partnership with Unilever, brought together Muslim leaders, sheikhs, imams, and members of the Muslim community for spiritual reflection and preparation ahead of the holy month.
A Journey Beginning with Intention
Speaking at the event, Nandawula Grace, Head of Marketing at Unilever, emphasized the importance of beginning Ramadan with spiritual grounding.
“Ramadan begins with intention. While we have participated in Ramadan engagements for many years, this time we wanted to start differently by walking with the Muslim community from Darasa,” she said. “Ramadan is just two days away, but preparation is key. Darasa is an important foundation to ensure a fulfilled and meaningful fasting period.”
Grace explained that Royco’s theme this year centers on sharing goodness, encouraging families to prepare and share tasty meals while strengthening bonds with loved ones and the wider community.
“As you prepare special meals this Ramadan, we encourage you to share the goodness. Invite others to your table and create great moments together,” she said. “We also urge shoppers to include Royco products in their Ramadan shopping. For every tin purchased, we will donate to the Muslim community on the final day of Ramadan, marking Eid.”
Spiritual Preparation for a Sacred Month
The Darasa featured teachings from respected sheikhs and Muslim leaders, focusing on the key pillars of Islam and practical guidance for observing Ramadan meaningfully.
Among the speakers was Imam Idi Kasozi, who praised the initiative for prioritizing spiritual preparation before festivities.
“Ramadan is not just an event,” Imam Kasozi said. “It is a duty and a transformative journey. We have been reminded to create and share good things this Ramadan — whether it is food, love, repentance, or acts that bring us closer to Allah.”
He highlighted key lessons shared during the session, including:
Opening a new page in one’s relationship with Allah, Renewing commitment to the teachings and character of the Prophet, Reconciling with parents and strengthening family ties, Building better relationships within the wider community
Drawing from the Qur’an, Imam Kasozi emphasized patience and mutual support as foundations for success during Ramadan.
“When we are patient with ourselves and with others, and we combine that patience, we succeed,” he noted.
Community-Centered Engagement
Royco’s Ramadan engagements will continue throughout the fasting period, including community Iftars and regional outreach activities across Uganda.
By launching its campaign with a Darasa, the brand signaled a more intentional and culturally respectful approach recognizing that before communal meals and celebrations, Ramadan is first a time for knowledge, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
As Muslims across Uganda prepare to usher in the holy month, Royco’s message remains clear: share the goodness in faith, in food, and in fellowship.
