JUDICIALY : President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to preside over the 8th Annual Joan Kagezi Memorial Lecture on May 29, 2026, in honour of the legacy of the late Joan Kagezi, who was mysteriously gunned down in the line of duty while serving as Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (ADPP).
The event underscores the critical role of prosecution in national development and will serve as the climax of a series of significant activities scheduled for May 29 at Kololo Independence Grounds under the theme: “Prosecution as a Catalyst for Economic Transformation, Safety and Public Trust.”
According to the spokesperson for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Jackie Okuo, the ODPP is set to hold a series of significant events in May 2026.
The Annual Prosecutors’ Symposium will take place on May 25, 26, and 28 at Africana Hotel under the theme: “Enhancing Professionalism for Responsive Prosecution Services.”
Jackie noted that the symposium will bring together ODPP prosecutors, delegated prosecutors, and key stakeholders to explore ways of strengthening prosecution services for greater efficiency, integrity, and public service delivery.
The memorial lecture is being held in honour of the late Joan Kagezi, an Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions who was gunned down in the line of duty.
The statement further noted that all prosecutors will be out of office on the aforementioned dates due to the scheduled activities.
