KAMPALA, Uganda :  Renowned Ugandan orthopaedic surgeon and founder of Kumi Orthopaedic Centre, Dr. John Ekure, is set to unveil his latest book, We Can Be More: The Courage to Grow, The Strength to Rise, on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Hotel Africana’s Nile Hall in Kampala.

More than a traditional book launch, the event will serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue on personal growth, resilience, and purposeful living. It will also raise support for the Elizabeth Opola Foundation, which sponsors education for underprivileged youth and advances environmental initiatives.

Often referred to as “The Bone Doctor from Kumi,” Dr. Ekure draws from his journey of rising from humble rural beginnings to becoming one of Uganda’s leading specialists in orthopaedics, trauma, and spine surgery. In “We Can Be More“, he challenges readers to move beyond survival and comfort zones toward intentional growth and impact.

The book underscores a central message: passion alone is not enough. It must be anchored in clarity of purpose, reinforced by consistent action, strengthened through disciplined self-improvement, and guided by the courage to pursue bold ideas and the humility to learn from failure.

“True strength is found in service, and a meaningful legacy is measured not by recognition but by contribution,” Dr. Ekure writes.

He emphasizes that with quiet persistence—and a willingness to begin, even imperfectly—individuals can grow, influence others, and truly “be more.”

This publication marks Dr. Ekure’s third major work, following his memoir Undeterred, which chronicles the establishment of the Kumi Orthopaedic Centre amid significant challenges, and Changing Our World, a call to transformation through service and leadership.

Beyond medicine and authorship, Dr. Ekure is a sought-after motivational speaker and advocate for youth innovation, enterprise, and diligence. He also serves on Uganda’s National Environment Management Authority, where he contributes to wetland conservation and sustainable waste management efforts. Through Lions Clubs International, he champions servant leadership and support for vulnerable communities.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised him as “an entrepreneur with spectacles that see far—one who turned tragedy into triumph and rose to shape lives and systems with vision.”

Organizers are encouraging the public not merely to attend, but to participate actively in advancing the mission of the Elizabeth Opola Foundation.

“Come not just to witness a launch—come to invest your presence where purpose gathers, and leave knowing the story continues because you were there,” they state.

Doors will open for what promises to be an inspiring evening of reflection, conversation, and commitment to greater possibility. Guests are advised to reserve their seats in advance.
