KANUNGU — Police in Kanungu District have launched a manhunt for a suspect identified only as Isaac following the discovery of the decomposing body of a 14-year-old boy in Kambuga Sub-county.
The suspect, who is reportedly a resident of Kigando Cell, Kiringa Parish, Kambuga Sub-county, is wanted in connection with the incident.
According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, on July 13, 2026 residents of Kigando Cell became concerned after noticing a strong, unusual smell coming from one of the rented rooms in the trading centre.
The residents reportedly forced open the door, where they found the decomposing body of Abindaryamu Deus, a 14-year-old boy.
Police from Kanungu responded to the scene after being alerted and documented the incident before conveying the body to Kambuga Hospital for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
“We are hunting for the suspect identified only as Isaac. We call upon residents of Kambuga to remain calm and cooperate with the police by providing any information that can lead to his arrest so that justice can take its course,” SP Nelson Tumushime, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, said.
