Kigezi Region Police have intensified preparations for the third edition of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Cup Sports Tournament, which is expected to take place soon.
The tournament is open to serving members of the Uganda Police Force and will feature competition in football and netball.
Regional Police Commander SSP Godfrey Ninsiima is leading the mobilisation of personnel across the Kigezi Region and has urged all District Police Commanders (DPCs) to organise their teams and ensure active participation in the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the competition, Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime expressed confidence in the region’s football team. “According to our records, Kigezi Police FC has some of the best players in the Uganda Police Force and we are confident they have a strong chance of winning the third edition of the IGP Cup. We encourage all officers to participate and support the tournament as we promote teamwork, fitness and unity within the Force,” SP Tumushime said.
Kigezi Police have wished their football team success as they prepare to compete against other regional teams in the national police sports tournament.
