KISORO, Uganda — Police in Kisoro District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Bwangangira Cypriano Kagabo, a 40-year-old resident of Kishoro Village, Gisorora Parish, Nyakabande Sub-county, who died after being electrocuted while roofing a house.
According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m. at Nyiragakoro Trading Centre.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had been hired to roof a residential house when he accidentally came into contact with a live electricity wire, resulting in fatal electrocution.
Neighbours rushed to the scene and transported him to Mutolere Hospital for medical attention. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have urged the public to exercise extreme caution when carrying out construction work near electricity lines and advised property owners to engage qualified electricians for electrical installations and related works.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
