WAKISO District (UGNEWSLINE) — One person has been confirmed dead and 25 others rescued after a structure under construction collapsed at Holy City Church, Brother Ronnies Ministries, in Bwerenga, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala confirmed the death, identifying the deceased as Lukwago Francis, a builder. She said rescue teams were still searching through the rubble as efforts continued to establish whether more people remained trapped beneath the debris.
According to the latest update issued on October 27, all 25 rescued survivors are adult males and are receiving medical treatment at Kisubi Hospital and Entebbe Grade B Hospital.
Emergency response teams remain at the scene, working to clear the debris and search for any other victims who may still be trapped in the collapsed structure.
Meanwhile, investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the collapse and the circumstances under which the incident occurred.
Police said search and rescue operations were ongoing as authorities continued to assess the situation.
