Scheduled to take place on 14th March at MakerereUniversity Business School-Nakawa, the much anticipated event will portray the beauty of various international languages, cultures, tourism and hospitality

The Festival Organized by the Department of Business Languages and International Relations aims at promoting the integration of international languages with local languages in Uganda for socio-economic transformation.

Mr. Mulambuzi Matthew- Coordinator, MUBS Business Languages Festival

“The festival celebrates the beauty of diverse languages and cultures, emphasizing their relevance in tourism and hospitality across different societies,” said Mr. Matthew Mulambuzi from the Business languages and international relations, faculty of tourism and hospitality.

He said that the festival will feature more than five  languages including Arabic, Kiswahili, French, Chinese and German, with presence of sign language

“We came up with the business languages festival so that it makes business easy across the community and world over especially in the hospitality business, sales, marketing, plus any other kind of business,” he  further noted.

He said “this festival is aimed at promoting multi lingualism to make our local languages integrate with international languages and also build confidence in the business students at MUBS. We also plan to introduce a language centre where students will be taught international languages including Chinese, German, Arabic, Swahili, and French.”

“Majority of business community in ugandan import from china and as a business school, we found it important to hold the a language festival to emphasize multi lingualism,” said Professor Moses Muhwezi, the principle of MUBS said.

“Business Languages Festival is a free entrance and participation event and we call for the student community, surrounding business communities, general public and well-wishers,” he remarked.

The event also recognises excellence Awards for the 3 categories and these includes; the  Most Exemplary Language Club, Most supportive Business Languages Festival Partner/Sponsor and The Dean’s Lifetime Achievement Award).
