C-Care Uganda and the Rotary Cancer Program Uganda Limited today formalized a powerful alliance, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that marks a significant leap forward in the fight against cancer.

This partnership is set to dramatically enhance cancer awareness, promote early detection, and expand access to critical healthcare services for underserved communities across Uganda. The signing ceremony, held in Namuwongo, Kampala, brought together key figures from the Rotary Cancer Program, the C-Care team, and their valued partners.

The MOU reaffirms a shared dedication to tackling the rising incidence of cancer head-on, ensuring that essential healthcare services and vital education reach those who need them most.

Dr. Miriam Musinga Mutero, General Manager of C-Care IHK, emphasized the profound significance of this collaboration: “Today is an exciting morning as we launch a very special partnership between C-Care and Rotary. We have committed to be the medical partner for Rotary, in line with our vision to be the most trusted healthcare provider in the region. We know cancer is one of those diseases that continues to grow, causing a lot of challenges for patients and their families. It does not choose your age, your race, or your gender, it affects everyone in our community.”

This initiative will see C-Care Uganda support 72 community medical outreaches, deploying dedicated medical professionals to provide vital services. C-Care is also committing UGX 73 million in services, which includes staff time, comprehensive awareness campaigns, and crucial
emergency support.

At its heart, the partnership is driven by a human-centric approach, focused on delivering hope, knowledge, and dignity to individuals in underserved communities.

The MOU represents a united effort to save lives by vigorously promoting early detection, delivering essential medical services, and boosting awareness about cancer prevention.

This collaborative endeavor will ensure that individuals, who often lack access to timely healthcare, receive the necessary support, information, and care.

Azhar Sundhoo, CEO of C-Care Uganda, underscored the organization’s commitment: “Our vision at C-Care Uganda is to be the most trusted healthcare partner in Uganda and beyond. This partnership with the Rotary Cancer Program shows our strong desire to extend our reach beyond hospital walls and into communities where access to quality healthcare is often limited. We believe that access to quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege. We are partners, not only for this program. We are partners together. When it comes to health care, whatever the Rotary Club of Uganda, the Rotary members, wants to do, you can always come to knock on our doors. We are committed to the cause.”

The Rotary Cancer Program, renowned for its tireless efforts in cancer awareness and early detection, including the annual Rotary Cancer Run, aligns perfectly with C-Care’s mission to improve health outcomes across Uganda.

Rtn Ritah Balaka stated, ”Rotary work is really impactful because of the partnerships that we build. We do not cause change alone. So, we are delighted that we are forming yet another partnership. Dr. Miriam Mutero further added, ”Cancer, when detected early, can be treated. But the best way is to prevent it and make sure you do not get it. And through awareness, through educating the community about lifestyle changes…is definitely going to help us in terms of getting to early diagnosis and early detection of cancer, which then means that the patient can get early treatment. And for most cancers, if detected early, they can actually be treated and be cured.”

C-Care Uganda and the Rotary Cancer Program are confident that this collaboration will have a lasting and profound impact on the health and well-being of communities across Uganda.
