Dr. Fabian Kasi, the Managing Director of Centenary Bank, has been named the Rotary District Governor Nominee Designate (DGND) for District 9213, with his term set to commence in Rotary Year 2027/2028.
This prestigious nomination underscores Dr. Kasi’s long-standing dedication to the principles of Rotary and highlights the deep and impactful partnership between Centenary Bank and the global humanitarian organization.
Dr. Kasi’s journey with Rotary began in 2005 when he joined the Rotary Club of Kiwatule.
His commitment to service saw him rise through the ranks, serving as the Club President in 2011 – a significant year that also marked his appointment as the Managing Director of Centenary Bank.
This confluence of leadership roles has allowed Dr. Kasi to champion Rotary’s ideals both within his professional sphere and the wider community.

Centenary Bank’s support for Rotary activities in Uganda has been substantial and impactful, with contributions exceeding UGX 4 billion over the years. These funds have been instrumental in supporting critical health and community development projects, most notably the Rotary Mengo Blood Bank and the Rotary Centenary Cancer Ward at Nsambya Hospital.
The Rotary Mengo Blood Bank, established to address persistent blood shortages in the country, has become a vital resource, serving numerous hospitals in Kampala and beyond. Centenary Bank’s significant financial support has enabled the blood bank to enhance its capacity for blood collection, processing, and distribution, ultimately saving countless lives.
Similarly, Centenary Bank has been a steadfast partner in the fight against cancer in Uganda through its support of the Rotary Centenary Cancer Ward at Nsambya Hospital. This dedicated oncology center provides crucial treatment and care to cancer patients, offering a beacon of hope in a country where access to specialized cancer care has historically been limited. The bank is also a platinum sponsor of the Rotary Cancer Program, actively supporting the ongoing development of the new Cancer Treatment Center at Nsambya Hospital, including the construction of specialized bunkers to house modern cancer treatment machines.
Dr. Kasi’s personal commitment to these causes is evident in his role as the Chairman of Rotary Uganda Ltd, a major donor arm of the organization. His leadership in this capacity has been pivotal in mobilizing resources and ensuring the effective implementation of these life-changing projects.
Beyond his direct involvement with Rotary’s health initiatives, Dr. Kasi’s professional acumen and personal values align strongly with Rotary’s core principles.
A respected figure in Uganda’s financial sector, Dr. Kasi was named the best banking CEO in Uganda by the Uganda Bankers Association in 2022.
He is a recognized Leadership Catalyst, Strategist, and Governance expert, and he actively mentors young banking executives. His commitment to sustainability has also made him a pioneer and champion in the country.
Dr. Kasi’s extensive professional experience includes serving as President of the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services, Board Chairman of Buganda Broadcasting Corporation (BBS) and Agent Banking Company of Uganda (ABC), and a board member of the Capital Markets Authority, Financial Sector Deepening Uganda, and the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, representing the Africa Chapter.
He previously served as Chairman of the Uganda Banker’s Association, driving initiatives for industry growth.
His strong educational background, including a first-class degree in Bachelor of Commerce from Makerere University, an MBA from the University of Newcastle in Australia, and his status as a Fellow Certified Chartered Accountant of the UK (FCCA), further underscores his capabilities to lead Rotary District 9213 effectively.
