KISORO – Police in Kisoro District have arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged breaking into a government store and stealing mosquito nets from Nyakabande Sub-county headquarters.
The suspects have been identified as Nyiransaba Rose, Nyiravuganeza Ansiva, Nyiramutuzo Berina, and Dukuze Pereratah.
According to the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, the four suspects are currently being held at Kisoro Central Police Station and are expected to be arraigned before the Kisoro Magistrate’s Court to answer charges related to store breaking and theft.
Police said the arrests followed timely information provided by members of the public and the LC III Chairperson of Nyakabande Sub-county, whose cooperation enabled officers to apprehend the suspects.
SP Tumushime warned members of the public against stealing government property, particularly medical supplies intended to safeguard the health and lives of citizens.
“We warn the public against stealing government property, especially medical supplies meant to protect people’s lives,” he said.
He also commended the local community and the Nyakabande LC III Chairperson for their vigilance and support in the investigation.
