TORORO: President Yoweri Museveni has commended His Royal Highness Moses Stephen Owori of Tieng Adhola Cultural Institution for collaborating with the Central Government in promoting economic prosperity of the people of Tororo.
“I appreciate you for the work you are doing to build, guide and administer the kingdom. The Kingdom is commended for the various developmental projects being undertaken for the good of the people of Tororo and the entire nation, he said.
Museveni further commended His Royal Highness for the good leadership and partnership with government in ensuring that the people support government programs for peace and development.
The president was equally gratified to note that since the restoration of Tieng Adhola cultural institution, the NRM government has enjoyed cordial and a healthy relationship with Kingdom.
He therefore, I urged the people of Tororo, to work hard for the development of the Kingdom and avoid conflicts at all costs emphasizing unity and cohesion as being core in development.
President Museveni made the remarks in a speech delivered by the Vice President Jessica Alupo during the centennial Birthday celebration of His Royal Highness the Kwar Adhola of the Tieng Adhola at Elgon View Field in Tororo district, February 28th, 2026.
Museveni thanked God for blessing His Royal Highness the King and his family with good health and wisdom. He also thanked God for the peace, freedom, security and general tranquility prevailing in the country that allows such celebrations to take place.
On behalf of the government of the Republic of Uganda and on my own behalf, president Museveni congratulated His Royal Highness Moses Stephen Owori– of Tieng Adhola Cultural Institution upon celebration of 100 years of life.
“It is such a blessing to you, your family, the Kwa Adhola cultural institution and the entire nation to celebrate with you the many years of significant service to your people, leadership and counsel. This is a phenomenal milestone that many never witness and we thank God for the years he has granted your Royal Highness. You are blessed, highly favored and jubilate with you on this day,” president Museveni said.
He told the gathering that celebration of 100 years of life comes with tales of experience, interesting life lessons and stories of interest to people in all walks of life.
He therefore challenged the Kwar Adhola Kingdom Clerks to ensure a write up of all the noteworthy issues of Kwar Owori’s heritage for the edification, guidance and knowledge of the generations to come.
“Celebration of the life of such a man of wisdom gives us pride and it is glorious. It is also a highlight of God’s promise for obedience that is rewarded with long life,” he said.
Museveni quoted in the book of Deuteronomy 5:16, that “Honour your father and your mother ,as the Lord your God Has commanded to you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you”.
Museveni assured the guests that God has never fallen short of his Promises stressing that this celebration is a taste and testimony to His promise.
He wished His Royal Highness Kwar Adhola Moses Stephen Owori; Happy Centennial Birthday celebrations, good health and more years of wisdom and peaceful leadership.
On behalf of the people of Padhola, and on his own behalf, the Kwar Adhola thanked president Museveni for honouring his invitation on the occasion of centennial birthday celebrations.
He congratulated both the president and the vice president on their re-election and reminded the Museveni about the unfulfilled pledges to the Japaphola including two vehicles to the Kingdom, completion of the Palace which government kickstarted 15-years ago.
Others included a Shs1.5billion pledge towards the Africa Women University of Science and Technology in Uganda to be set up by the Kingdom within Tororo and the tarmacking of Tororo-Nagongera-Busolwe road.
He however lauded president Museveni for the landmark recommendation to elevate Tororo Municipality to city status as a neutral administrative unit and creating three new districts to address the needs of both Tororo’s Japadhola and Iteso communities.
Additionally, the Kwar also paid tribute to VP Alupo for ably spearheading talks which led to the creation and realisation of the above administrative units. He further asked the president to fast-track their operationalization.
The vice president, in her own words hailed the cultural leader for taking lead in the fight against violence against women and children and for being a symbol of unity in the Kingdom. She handed over the President’s birthday present of Shs50m to the Kwar Adhola amid cheers and applause from the gathering.
The colourful celebrations were attended by many dignitaries including religious, political and cultural leaders, UPDF generals, civil society organisations and people of Tororo.
Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Oboth Oboth congratulated the Kwar adhola upon reaching the centennial celebrations and hailed him for steering development in the Kingdom.
Prior to the celebrations, several activities including Football, Netball matches, a marathon, radio programmes and a birthday thanksgivining Mass were held.
Owori has been on the throne of the Jopadhola community for the last 26 years
