Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) are holding Issa Sekito, the acting Chairman of the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), in connection with alleged incitement of violence and assault on law enforcement officers. Authorities say Sekito’s statement is yet to be recorded as investigations continue, and appropriate charges are being considered.
He was arrested alongside thirteen (13) other individuals on November 5, 2025 for allegedly inciting unrest and attacking police officers performing their duties in the city centre.
The case files have been forwarded to the Resident State Attorney for review and legal guidance.
Deputy Public Relations Officer of Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luke Owoyesigyire, urged the public to remain calm and avoid actions that could provoke violence or endanger the safety of others, particularly business owners continuing operations in the city centre.
Police have confirmed that they will maintain a strong presence in the area to prevent further disturbances and ensure law and order is upheld.
