KAMPALA,Uganda– The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja Musafiri, is set to preside over the official launch of the Kicking Out Poverty Kampala community-based organization (CBO) SACCO, which comprises 73 economic empowerment groups within Kampala District.
This announcement was made over the weekend by the SACCO’s National Coordinator, Ssebagala Robert Kizza, during their strategic planning meeting and fundraising event held in Kazo, Kawempe Division. The meeting was attended by Hajjati Madina Nsereko Ntale, the NRM party flag bearer for Kawempe South.
Ssebagala, who is also the aspiring NRM Lord Councillor candidate for Kawempe South—was flanked by the SACCO’s General Secretary, Bernard Muhwezi. Addressing over 60 members and guests, he revealed that they had invited the Prime Minister to officiate at the launch, which is scheduled to take place at Kawempe Growers Grounds in Bwaise on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025.
He noted that the objective of the launch is to raise awareness about their 3,368-member SACCO and to present their challenges to the government, in hopes of receiving support to combat household poverty.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, during the recent by-election campaigns for Kawempe North parliamentary candidate Faridah Nambi, appointed both Nambi and her Kawempe South counterpart, Hajjati Madina Nsereko Ntale, to oversee the implementation of all government economic empowerment programs in Kawempe Division. These include Emyooga, Parish Development Model (PDM), the Women Grow Project, Youth Livelihood Program, among others.
Hajjati Madina, who made a humble contribution toward the event, used the opportunity—as a presidential appointee—to lobby for funding support for the SACCO. However, she urged the members to get organized and focus their collective efforts on fighting household poverty through teamwork and cooperation.
