KAMPALA — The Anti-Corruption Court has remanded a man accused of offering Shs8 million to police officers guarding a crime scene in Wakiso District.
Kayiwa Amir was arraigned before the court on Monday and charged with offering gratification. He was remanded until September 30, 2026, when he is expected to return to court.
Prosecution alleges that on August 29, 2026, Kayiwa offered Shs8 million to police officers who were guarding a crime scene at Lubowa in Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.
The money was allegedly intended to persuade the officers to allow Kayiwa access to the office of Asimwe Emmanuel at Details Security Company Limited, where he allegedly planned to remove vital evidence.
Kayiwa was arrested following investigations into a complaint over the alleged theft of 785 kilograms of gold from the premises of Details Security Company Limited.
Following the complaint, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working with police in Wakiso, secured and cordoned off the premises as investigations into the alleged gold theft got underway.
The case was jointly handled by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, leading to Kayiwa’s arraignment.
Kayiwa will return to court on September 30, 2026, when the case is expected to come up for further proceedings.
