KABALE, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – Minister of State for Investment and Privatisation, Hajjat Amina Mukalazi, has commissioned new Buhara Sub-county offices in Kabale District, a development expected to bring government services closer to residents and improve coordination between local leaders and security agencies.
The new office block, constructed by Sino Minerals Investments Company Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, was officially opened on October 16, 2026, during a ceremony attended by government officials, security leaders, local leaders and hundreds of residents.
The facility is expected to provide a better working environment for sub-county officials and make it easier for residents to access government services without facing unnecessary difficulties.
Police in the Kigezi Region welcomed the development, saying the new offices would also strengthen community policing and improve cooperation between security agencies and local leaders in preventing crime.
In a statement issued after the commissioning, Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime said the new facility would provide space for community policing activities and strengthen efforts to maintain law and order.
Police also said the offices would support the implementation of government programmes aimed at addressing poverty and unemployment, which can contribute to crime in communities.
The force pledged to work closely with Buhara Sub-county leaders to promote public safety and ensure that residents live in a peaceful environment.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by officials from the State House Local Content Unit, the Ministry of Local Government, Kabale Resident District Commissioner Maj. (Rtd) Godfrey Katamba, security officials and local leaders.
The construction of the offices by Sino Minerals Investments Company Limited highlights the role of private companies in supporting local development through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The new headquarters are expected to strengthen the administration of Buhara Sub-county while improving the delivery of public services to residents.
