MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited has today launched a nationwide financial literacy campaign aimed at empowering Ugandans with the knowledge, confidence and discipline to use digital credit responsibly, repay consistently and build a stronger financial future.

Running under the tagline “Borrow. Pay Back. Neela Neela.”, the campaign promotes responsible borrowing and timely repayment as essential habits that build financial confidence, improve access to future credit and contribute to personal and national economic growth.

Access to affordable credit remains a challenge for many Ugandans, particularly individuals, informal traders, smallholder farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), many of whom lack collateral or a formal credit history. By providing fast, convenient and accessible digital loans, MTN MoMo is helping bridge this financing gap and unlock opportunities for entrepreneurship, business growth and household resilience.

Speaking at the launch, Jemimah Kariuki, Chief Product Officer of MTN MoMo Uganda Ltd, said:

“Credit has the power to transform lives by enabling people to respond to emergencies, invest in their businesses and pursue opportunities. But its greatest value comes when it is used responsibly. Through this campaign, we are equipping our customers with the knowledge to borrow with confidence, repay consistently and build financial credibility that opens even greater opportunities.”

The campaign is built around three key pillars: Borrow What You Can Repay, Think Before You Borrow, and Stay on Track, encouraging customers to borrow within their means, assess their financial needs before taking a loan, and maintain timely repayments to strengthen their financial health and future access to credit.

Over the coming months, customers will be engaged through television, radio, digital platforms, social media and community activations featuring practical financial education and expert advice to enable them harness the power of responsible borrowing as a tool for their financial growth.

The campaign reinforces MTN MoMo’s commitment to advancing financial inclusion by combining access to digital credit with financial literacy. By encouraging responsible borrowing and repayment, MTN MoMo is helping customers build positive credit histories, strengthen Uganda’s financial ecosystem and drive inclusive economic growth.
